Wessex Night League - Brockenhurst

Brockenhurst, United Kingdom • 4 Dec 2025

Event overview

Part of the Wessex Region Night League 2025/26, this is a 60-minute orienteering score event in and around Brockenhurst in the New Forest. Competitors visit controls to score points within the time limit. Controls are SIAC enabled and hired dibbers will be available at registration. Maps are on 1:7,500 scale printed on A3 waterproof paper.

Location and parking

The event centre is at The Huntsman Pub, Brockenhurst, SO42 7RH. Parking options include Brookley Road Car Park (about 0.4 miles from the pub) and on-street parking around the village. The train station car park uses ANPR cameras and charges apply. Participants are asked not to park at the pub because there are few spaces.

Course, rules and safety

This is a straight score format: competitors have 60 minutes to visit as many controls as possible for points. There is a penalty of 10 points for each minute or fraction of a minute over the hour. Bonus points of 10 per minute under the hour apply only if every control has been visited. The Start and Finish are in an open green area about 250 m north of the pub. The area includes streets, tracks and footpaths; some paths may be muddy and there are many cattle grids with foot gates beside them. Competitors must wear hi-viz tops and carry sufficient lights. The main A337 and the railway line are not crossed on the course. All juniors under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Senior entry £7.00; senior chip hire £1.00. Junior entry £3.00; junior chip hire free. British Orienteering senior non-member supplement £2.00. Charge for a lost timing chip is £32.
