Ras Copaon 1000m Cymru / Welsh 1000m Peaks Race
Ras Copaon 1000m Cymru, the Welsh 1000m Peaks Race, is a long-standing mountain race based in Eryri, North Wales. The event is scheduled for Saturday 5 June 2027 and entries open on 1 December 2026. For over 50 years the race has traced a bee-line route from the coast through steep mountain cwms, over rocky summits and technical ridges, finishing at the summit of Yr Wyddfa / Snowdon.
Both a long course and a short course are offered. Terrain includes rough and rocky ground, runnable grassy slopes and pitched stone paths. The race finishes at 1085 m above sea level; organisers specify a Minimum Race Kit that competitors must carry and note that adequate layers are required to guard against rapid cooling at that height.
Race administration uses two registration locations to help runners manage travel to the event. Organisers suggest using the event Facebook page to facilitate lift shares and reduce single-person car journeys. The race is supported by local clubs and organisations involved with mountain running and mountain safety. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
