Course and logistics

The route follows a section of the North Country Trail from Cross Village to Mackinaw City and is reported as over 90% single-track. Terrain includes rolling bluffs overlooking Lake Michigan, coastal forest, and inland wilderness lakes. The 50K adds a five-mile section on the Sturgeon Bay Trail. The half marathon starts near Goose Pond in Wilderness State Park. Runners are transported by bus from Mackinaw City School to the starts; gear bags are transported back to the finish.

Aid stations and hydration: the marathon has five aid stations (4.2, 7.5, 12.9, 18.2, 22.5 miles), the 50K six stations (4.2, 7.5, 12.4, 17.9, 23.2, 27.7 miles), and the half two stations (5.1, 9.4 miles). All runners are required to carry a 20 oz water bottle or similar hydration system; stations offer water, electrolyte drink and energy products. Time limits are 8 hours (50K), 6 hours (marathon), and 4 hours (half).

Entry fees vary by registration date: 50K $115–$145, Marathon $105–$135, Half Marathon $85–$115. Race fees include bus transportation to the start, a race shirt if registered by the deadline, post-race refreshments, and a custom finisher medallion.
