Waugoshance Trail Run
Waugoshance Trail Run takes place in Emmet County, Michigan on July 11, 2026. The event uses a section of the North Country Trail from Cross Village to Mackinaw City and features over 90% single track with rolling bluffs that overlook Lake Michigan, coastal forests, and inland wilderness lakes.
Distances offered:
- 50K
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
The 50K route includes a five mile section on the Sturgeon Bay Trail. The half marathon begins near Goose Pond in Wilderness State Park and follows the last portion of the marathon course past Carp River and the north shore of French Farm Lake. Courses pass through pine and balsam fir forest, sections of sandy lake shoreline, and a final converted rail trail into Mackinaw City. The finish is at the Mackinaw City School athletic grounds. The course is marked with colored flags, directional arrows, and mile markers, and runners are bused to the starts.
Aid stations are placed along the courses; the marathon has five stations, the 50K has six, and the half marathon has two. All runners must carry a 20 oz hydration system that can be refilled. Volunteers provide cold water, electrolyte drink options, and energy gels. Time limits are 8 hours for the 50K, 6 hours for the marathon, and 4 hours for the half marathon.
Registration is online only with a deadline of July 6, 2026 and participant limits per distance. Dogs are allowed at the start and finish area but not on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
