Waugoshance Trail Run is a trail event in Emmet County offering three distances: a 50K, a marathon, and a half marathon. The finish area and event operations are based at Mackinaw City School, with the half marathon starting near Goose Pond in Wilderness State Park.
The course follows a section of the North Country Trail from Cross Village to Mackinaw City. More than 90% of the route is single track and the terrain includes rolling bluffs overlooking Lake Michigan, coastal forests, and multiple inland wilderness lakes. The 50K includes a five mile section on the Sturgeon Bay Trail. The route is marked with colored flags, directional arrows, and mile markers.

Logistics note that runners are bused to the starts from Mackinaw City School and gear bags are transported back to the finish. The race is cupless; participants must bring a refillable cup and carry a 20 oz water bottle or other hydration system for refilling at aid stations. Aid stations provide water, electrolyte drink options, and light foods such as bananas and oranges. All finishers receive a commemorative award and podium awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each distance. The event has an entrant limit of 400 runners.
