The Waugoshance Trail Run takes place in the far northwestern Lower Peninsula of Michigan, in the Cross Village to Mackinaw City area. Distances offered:
- 50K
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
The course follows a section of the North Country Trail with more than 90% single track. It includes rolling bluffs overlooking Lake Michigan, coastal forest sections, and inland wilderness lakes. The 50K includes a five mile section on the Sturgeon Bay Trail. The half marathon begins near Goose Pond in Wilderness State Park. Runners finish at Mackinaw City School athletic grounds.
Race logistics and services
Registration is online only and closes July 6, 2026; sizes for race shirts are guaranteed if registered by an earlier date. Participant limits listed are 100 for the 50K, 100 for the marathon, and 200 for the half marathon. Buses transport runners from Mackinaw City School to the start areas and gear bags are moved to the finish. Packet pickup takes place at Mackinaw City School the day before the race. Aid stations are provided on each course (locations and mile marks given by the organizer). All runners must carry a 20 oz water bottle or equivalent hydration system that can be refilled. Time limits are specified for each distance and a sweep runner will follow the last participant. Dogs are allowed at the start/finish area but not on the race course.
