Course, logistics and support

The route follows a section of the North Country Trail from Cross Village to Mackinaw City and is described as more than 90% single track. Course terrain includes rolling bluffs overlooking Lake Michigan, coastal forests, and inland wilderness lakes. The 50K contains an additional five-mile section on the Sturgeon Bay Trail. The half marathon starts near Goose Pond in Wilderness State Park and joins the later portion of the marathon course toward Mackinaw City.

Buses transport runners from the finish-area location to the starts and gear bags are transported back to the finish. Aid stations are provided along each course (marathon, 50K and half marathon) and runners are required to carry a 20 oz hydration system or similar. Aid stations supply water, electrolyte drink, and packaged nutrition items. Awards include finisher recognition and age-group awards. Dogs are allowed in the start/finish area but not on the race course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
