Event Overview
The Waugoshance Trail Run is a trail running event in Emmet County, Michigan. It offers three distances: a 50K, a Marathon, and a Half Marathon. The course follows a section of the North Country Trail from Cross Village to Mackinaw City in Michigan's Lower Peninsula.
Course Details
The route is over 90% single track trail. It features rolling bluffs overlooking Lake Michigan, coastal forests, and multiple inland wilderness lakes. The 50K distance includes an additional five-mile section on the Sturgeon Bay Trail. The Half Marathon starts near Goose Pond in Wilderness State Park.
The course is marked with colored flags, directional arrows, and mile markers. Runners for the 50K and Marathon distances are bused from the finish area at Mackinaw City School to their respective starts.
Aid Stations & Requirements
Aid stations are provided along the courses. All runners are required to carry a 20 oz water bottle or functional hydration system for refilling. Aid stations provide water, an electrolyte energy drink, gels, and electrolyte tablets.
Logistics
Bib pickup is available the day before the event at Mackinaw City School. Parking and bus transportation to the start are coordinated from Mackinaw City School for the 50K and Marathon, and from Mackinaw City High School for the Half Marathon. A gear storage area is available at the finish.
Awards
All finishers receive a commemorative award. Podium awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
