Course and logistics

The route follows a section of the North Country Trail from Cross Village toward Mackinaw City and is described as more than 90% single track. Course terrain includes rolling bluffs overlooking Lake Michigan, coastal forests, inland wilderness lakes, and a five-mile section on the Sturgeon Bay Trail for the 50K. The half-marathon starts near Goose Pond in Wilderness State Park; the marathon and 50K use shared sections and finish at Mackinaw City School. Runners are required to carry a refillable 20 oz hydration system; aid stations provide water, an electrolyte energy drink (Gnarly Fuel2O), and gels. Bus or shuttle transport to the start is provided from the Mackinaw City area and gear drop bags are returned to the finish.
