Wason Pond Wrangler

The Wason Pond Wrangler is a 5K obstacle course trail race on the scenic trails of Wason Pond in Chester, New Hampshire. The course includes more than ten obstacles placed along natural trails and features elements such as tire runs, walls to climb, and water crossings. The event is presented as family friendly and allows participants to walk or run the course either individually or as part of a team.

The event was formerly known as the Wason Pond Pounder. It combines racing with on-site music and food, and participants often trade stories with friends after finishing the course. Tens of thousands of dollars have been raised for local nonprofits through past editions.

Major beneficiaries have included Special Olympics of New Hampshire, Boy Scouts, Windham Helping Hands, Chester Fire Department, Wilcomb Townsend Trust, The Upper Room, Adaptive Sports Partners, The Playground Project and Susan G Komen Breast Cancer. The event also offers roles for volunteers and opportunities for sponsorship support.

The Wason Pond Wrangler is scheduled to return in 2026 on Saturday, May 16. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
