Vulcan's Fury Trail Race

Vulcan's Fury Trail Race takes place at Pawtuckaway State Park pavilion in Nottingham, NH, and is scheduled for October 11, 2026. The event offers two distance options:

  • Half Marathon
  • 5 Miler

The course runs on hiking trails through terrain shaped by ancient volcanic activity. Runners encounter a large boulder field, dense forest, single-track switchbacks, stream crossings, bridges, and a rocky slope called the Devil's Staircase. The trail includes steep and uneven sections and varying elevation that require careful navigation.

There are three aid stations on course that provide water and additional supplies. For the half marathon, there are time cutoffs at aid station 2 (mile 7.7) and aid station 3 (mile 10); participants who do not meet those cutoffs will be transported back to the start/finish area.

GPX files are available for both distances. There is no early bib pick up and no day-of registration; bib pick up occurs on event day. Parking is available in two lots at the park. The listed address is 128 Mountain Road, Nottingham, NH; some GPS units may direct to 163 Mountain Road. The pavilion coordinates are 43°05'15.9"N 71°09'36.1"W.
