Virginia Canyon is for Lovers

Virginia Canyon is for Lovers is a partner road race held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, in Idaho Springs, Colorado. The Start/Finish is at Courtney Ryley Cooper Park, 2350 Colorado Boulevard. The course follows Virginia Canyon road as an out-and-back of roughly 12 miles.

This is a two-person team event. Partners may be romantic, platonic, or athletic. Each runner must register individually; solo registrants may be paired by the organizers. Each runner completes the full out-and-back course, receives a turnaround stamp, and earns an individual time. Team time is the sum of both runners' individual times.

Awards include a prize for the team with the lowest combined time called Overall Power Couple, a Get-A-Room award for the fastest couple who stays together, and additional awards for best love story, most dramatic love story, and best bromance. Organizers run Gold Roots backyard-style events, with official times recorded by sight on the clock and turnaround stamps checked manually. The course is not closed to traffic, so participants are asked to be mindful of safety while on the road. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
