Vero Beach Octopus Ultra

The Vero Beach Octopus Ultra is a multi-distance trail event held on July 11 - 12, 2026 at the Environmental Learning Center, 255 Live Oak Dr., Vero Beach, FL. The race uses a centralized base camp on the ELC grounds with eight numbered out and back arms radiating from that base.

Distances offered include:

• 100 miles
• 100K
• 50 miles
• 50K
• Mini-Ultra (29.4 miles)
• Ultra Teaser (16.86 miles)
• Tentacle "Heavy" 5K Dash

The course structure allows combinations of arms to form specific distances: completing Octo-Arm one and A2 is noted for new ultra runners, finishing A1 through A4 yields a 50 mile distance, and adding A5 produces a 100K. Completing all eight arms within 32 hours earns the event buckle.

Organizers list a loose overall cutoff of 32 hours for all distances. Due to South Florida summer heat, race staff reserve the right to remove participants for health reasons. Leaving the course for any reason is treated as a did not finish.

Crew support is not mandatory but is strongly recommended; for first time 100 mile attempts an experienced crew is required.
