Vero Beach Octopus Ultra

Vero Beach, United States • 11-12 Jul 2026

Event overview

The Vero Beach Octopus Ultra is a multi-distance ultramarathon held at the Environmental Learning Center in Vero Beach, FL (255 Live Oak Dr.). The event uses a central base with eight out-and-back "Octo-Arms" that form the course layout. A portion of proceeds will be donated to the Environmental Learning Center. Sponsors listed include Trail Toes and LMNT.

Distances and course structure

  • 100 Miler
  • 100K
  • 50 Miler
  • 50K
  • Mini-Ultra - 29.4 miles
  • Ultra Teaser - 16.86 miles (Arm 1 only)
  • Tentacle "Heavy" 5K Dash

Completing specified combinations of arms corresponds to different distances: completing A1 and A2 constitutes a first ultra; finishing A1 through A4 equals 50 miles; adding A5 yields 100K; finishing all eight arms within the time limit qualifies for the 100-mile buckle.

Logistics and rules

All distances share a 32-hour finish limit. Organizers reserve the right to withdraw participants for health concerns related to South Florida summer heat. Leaving the marked course for any reason will result in a DNF. The race is no longer crew mandatory, but organizers state that crewing is strongly recommended; long sections of the course have no water access. The event notes that a first 100-mile attempt should include an experienced crew. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
