The Medal Madness event at Katy, Texas, takes place on the Mason Creek Hike & Bike Trail. This organized racing event features three distinct distances for participants to choose from:

The courses are designed as out-and-back routes. The 5K and 10K distance runners utilize a 0.78-mile course section, requiring the 5K participants to complete two laps and the 10K participants to complete four laps. The Half Marathon uses a 1.09-mile course section, which participants complete six times to reach the total distance.

A course time limit of 3 hours and 30 minutes is enforced for all participants. The event includes a best costume contest and provides finisher medals to those who complete their respective distances.
