UpRiver Running Fall Races

The UpRiver Running Fall Races take place in Thunder Bay, Ontario, with start and finish at Kinsmen Park (Trowbridge). The event includes multiple trail distances and a dedicated youth option.

  • 2.5 km Kids Trail Run
  • 10 km
  • 25 km
  • 50 km

Most of the courses run on single track trails. The 10 km is a single loop that goes into the Shuniah Mines trails and returns to Kinsmen Park. The 25 km is one loop with two out-and-back sections, mostly single track with some double track, routing through Shuniah Mines, Cascades Conservation Area, Centennial Park and Trowbridge Park trails. The 25 km course has about 370 m of climbing. The 50 km consists of two 25 km loops and follows the same route; it is a technical course with rolling terrain.

Aid stations are located at approximate marks including Balsam Access Trail Head (around 7.3 km), Cascades Conservation Area (around 14.3 km) and Kinsmen Park at the halfway point. The 50 km field has a total of five aid stations. Aid station supplies vary by location and include water, Tailwind drink mix, fruit, chips, gels and salt capsules among other items.

The event is chip timed and is operated as a cupless race, so participants should bring a reusable cup or bottle. All finishers receive a medal and age division awards are given to the first finisher in each division for the 10 km 25 km and 50 km events. The Kids Trail Run also includes a finisher medal. Additional details: a free shuttle runs to and from Current River Community Centre 450 Dewe Ave, entries are non refundable, bibs are transferable until the registration deadline, optional T shirts and vegan burritos are available for purchase by the stated deadline, and free vegan friendly chili is provided to participants.
