UpRiver Running Fall Races
The event is based at Kinsmen Park in Thunder Bay and takes place largely on single-track trails. Courses pass through Shuniah Mines trails, Cascades Conservation Area, Centennial Park and sections of Trowbridge Park.
Distances
- 50K two 25K loops following the 25K route
- 25K one loop with two short out-and-back sections, mostly single-track
- 10K single loop through Shuniah Mines
- Kids Trail Run 2.5 km including the Prospector Skills Trail and short Yellow and Red loops
Aid stations and cutoffs The 25K has two on-course aid stations. The 50K includes five aid stations located approximately at Balsam Access Trail Head (≈7.3 km), Cascades Conservation Area (≈14.3 km), Kinsmen Park halfway point (25 km), Balsam Access Trail Head again (≈31.2 km) and Cascades Conservation Area again (≈38.2 km). The 50K carries a nine hour overall cutoff and intermediate station cutoffs.
Logistics and registration This is a cupless event; participants should bring a reusable cup, water bottle or hydration bladder. A free Kasper Transportation shuttle runs to and from the Current River Community Centre (450 Dewe Ave). Registration closes on September 20 at 11:59 PM ET. Race entries are non-refundable; bibs are transferable until the registration deadline. Participants may change distance before registration closes with no refund for shortening and a charge for moving up. Optional T-shirt and vegan-friendly burritos must be ordered by September 20. If the event is cancelled after payment, entrants may take a 50 percent credit toward 2027 or receive a 50 percent refund. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
