UpRiver Running Fall Races

The UpRiver Running Fall Races are held in Thunder Bay, Ontario, with the start and finish lines located at Kinsmen Park (Trowbridge). The event features several trail distances primarily on single-track paths through the Shuniah Mines, Cascades Conservation Area, and Centennial Park.

The available distances include:

  • 50 km: A technical course consisting of two 25 km loops with specific time cutoffs.
  • 25 km: A single loop featuring approximately 370m (1200ft) of elevation gain.
  • 10 km: A single loop course heading from Kinsmen Park into Shuniah Mines.
  • 2.5 km Kids Trail Run: A dedicated fun trail for participants aged 17 and under.

This is a chip-timed, cupless event, meaning participants must bring their own reusable water bottles or hydration vests. Aid stations along the route provide water, electrolyte mixes, gels, and solid food such as fruit and snacks.

All participants receive a finisher medal and free vegan-friendly chili. Top finishers in the 10 km, 25 km, and 50 km events across various age divisions receive awards. A free shuttle service is available to transport runners between the Current River Community Centre and the race venue. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
