UNFINISHED Series
UNFINISHED is a Backyard Ultra event held at Woodbine Beach Park in Toronto. The core format is a 6.71 km loop called a Yard that runners must complete within the hour to earn the right to start the next loop. The remaining time in each hour becomes the runner's recovery window for rest, refuelling, hydration, and gear adjustments.
The event offers several formats:
- One Yard equals 6.71 km.
Participants can choose from:
- The elimination Backyard Ultra where missing an hourly start results in elimination.
- The Endurance Challenge, a 15 hour open window with no elimination, which allows skipped loops or team relays.
- The Sunshine Yard, a single community Yard along the waterfront trails open to all.
After 14 Yards, remaining runners line up for the Omega Lap, a final timed loop. The event is capped at 15 Yards in total. The course follows waterfront boardwalks and trails through Woodbine Beach Park and Ashbridges Bay Park.
Access options include the TTC 501 Queen streetcar and several paid parking lots near the venue. The organisers state that each Yard completed contributes to partner organisations supporting trail networks and health care foundations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
