UNFINISHED Series - Backyard Ultra event in Toronto

UNFINISHED is an endurance running event on September 12, 2026, held at Woodbine Beach Park in Toronto. The course uses a loop along the Martin Goodman Trail and the waterfront boardwalk; one loop, called a Yard, is exactly 6.71 km.

The event offers three main formats. The Backyard Ultra requires completing a Yard to earn the right to continue and is available for solo runners or teams of three. The Endurance Challenge provides a 15 hour open window to complete as many Yards as desired without elimination, available solo or as a relay team. The Sunshine Yard is a single community Yard with a shared start and can be taken as a standalone 6.71 km run.

UNFINISHED is capped at 15 Yards; after 14 Yards the remaining runners lineup for the Omega Lap, a final timed Yard where the fastest time decides the winner. Support crew may assist only after a Yard is finished, pacers are not permitted, and the official aid station serves runners only. Event logistics note TTC access via the 501 Queen streetcar and several paid parking lots including the Woodbine Beach lot. The series lists partnership with Trans Canada Trail and states that completed Yards contribute to partner initiatives.

Pricing examples listed by the organizer include solo Backyard Ultra or Endurance entries at CAD 130 plus fees, team entries at CAD 300 plus fees, and the Sunshine Yard at CAD 55 plus fees. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
