Kent Downs 50 Ultra Challenge

The Kent Downs 50 is a looped trail event based near Maidstone in Kent. It is scheduled for Sat 10 Oct 2026 and Sat 9 Oct 2027. Basecamp offers parking and weekend camping options, including camping packages with hot showers and chill out areas.

The main route runs anticlockwise around the Kent Downs. It follows the North Downs Way to Blue Bell Hill, then follows the River Medway to Mote Park for a picnic at the halfway point. The route continues along the Len Valley Walk past Leeds Castle before returning to the show-ground finish area. Solo start, Ultra March, and Trailblazerz options are available.

Support and logistics include covered rest stops approximately every 12.5 km with major stops every 25 km, staffed medical and massage teams, podiatrists, baggage pickup, toilets and changing areas. Food and drink are provided at regular snack stops, with a picnic lunch at 25 km and a finishers meal at basecamp. The route is waymarked with many pink arrows and glow-sticks at night, and GPS tracking is available through the event app. Timing scans at rest stops log progress to a control room. Shuttle buses and transfers run to the nearest train station and there is ample parking for supporters.

Trail runs nearby

Pretty Muddy 5k at Mote Park in Maidstone features a muddy obstacle course around the lake with some steep inclines. Participants aged 13 and over receive fundraising support, event materials and a medal on completion.

Two off road races around Bewl Water on 5 July 2026: a 15 mile full round route including the nature reserve and a 5 mile out and back. Organised by Wadhurst Runners with on course marshals, post race cake and beer, and fundraising for KSSA..

A measured off road 5K held as Race 4 of the Crown to Crown 2026 series at Westley Heights Country Park on 8 July. The course uses bridleways and some tarmac, with TRA licensing and on course marshals and first aid.

A 24-hour multi-terrain relay or solo race near RM13 with teams of 2 to 8, repeated 5.75 mile laps, free camping and on-site catering, showers and first aid. Entry fees are published from £89 to £110.
