The Ultimate Runner takes place on June 27, 2026, in Winston Salem, NC at Bob Sosnik Track at Hanes Park. This is the 40th annual running of the event. The competition combines four track races and one cross-country race. Participants must complete all five events to receive a finishing score, the Ultimate Runner t-shirt, and a 4.91 Ultimate Runner car decal.

The order of events is:

  • 5K cross country

Track events are run in heats based on submitted seed times. Runners who fail to check in to their assigned heat on time will be disqualified.

Registration and logistics

The field is capped at 114 participants based on the number of heats. The listed entry fee is $65. Twin City Track Club members receive a $5 discount if they have claimed their membership on RunSignUp. Registration opens April 15, 2026.

A post-race awards gathering is held at Joymongers Barrel Hall across the street from Hanes Park. All entrants and volunteers are invited; guests may attend for a nominal fee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

Tackle a scenic, rugged 25K on Pilot Mountain trails, winding up to the summit and around Jomeokee Pinnacle. Limited to 125 runners, this February 21 event includes stocked aid stations, a long sleeve tech shirt, and a hot post race meal.

Take to scenic trails around Lake Brandt and Lake Townsend in Greensboro with 5, 10 or 17 mile options for runners, ruckers and virtual participants. Collect a finisher medal that joins the North Carolina Trail Mega Medal Series.
