Course and logistics

The course is about 80% single track and 20% dirt forest road or two-track. The 50K and marathon routes follow Lake Superior coastline on high bluffs and shoreline forests, and they pass Culhane Lake, the Little Two Hearted River, Betsy Lake and the Giant Pines Trail with very old white pines. The half marathon is a loop through old growth white pine forest and along the southern ridge of Clark Lake. The finish area is approximately 200 meters from Camp 33 Brew Pub. Buses transport 50K and marathon runners from the finish area to their starts. Gear bags are transported back to the finish.

Aid stations, time limits and rules

Aid stations are spaced about 5-7 miles apart and are vehicle-accessible. Runners are required to carry a 20 oz water bottle or functional hydration system that can be refilled. Volunteers provide cold water, an electrolyte drink and energy gels at aid stations. Time limits are 8.5 hours for the 50K, 6.5 hours for the marathon and 4 hours for the half marathon.

Entry, limits and awards

Registration is online only and closes June 15, 2026. Participant limits are 100 for the 50K, 100 for the marathon and 200 for the half marathon. There are no refunds; the event follows the organizer’s withdrawal policy. All finishers receive a custom finisher medallion.
