Trotternish Ridge Race
The Trotternish Ridge Race runs from Flodigary to Storr Lochs along the Trotternish Ridge, following the original route via Meal na Suiramach, Ben Edra and the Storr. The distance is around 27 km with approximately 2000 m of ascent and descent. Entries are limited to 75 because of NatureScot restrictions; the event is currently full and new entries will be placed on a waiting list.
The course is unmarked and competitors must navigate between unmanned checkpoints using map and compass. Grid references for the checkpoints will be released closer to the event because of restrictions. Marshals will be on the course at CP 2 and CP 4, and water will be available at those points.
This is a Category A long race. Competitors are required to have completed similar events or have relevant experience in the last three years; competitors who are unsure whether they meet the requirement should contact the organiser. The race follows Scottish Hill Runners kit requirements; kit checks will be carried out before the start. Organisers may require runners to carry a survival bag depending on weather conditions.
Transport by bus to the start and from the finish back to Portree is included in the entry fee of £20. There will be a prize giving and light refreshments at the finish at Storr Lochs. The minimum age for entry is 18. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
