Traprock 50

Traprock 50 is a trail event at Penwood State Park in Bloomfield, CT, offering two race distances:

  • 50K - three loops, about 10.5 to 11 miles per loop
  • 17K - one loop, about 10.5 to 11 miles

The course is a loop format on the Metacomet Trail and nearby double-track. About half of the route is technical single track; the remainder is double-track or forest road. Surfaces are rolling and can be extremely rocky. Organizers state there will be no changes to the course and that the power line hill remains on the route. A nine hour cutoff applies to the 50K.

The event is organized by the CT Trailmixers, a volunteer, non-profit trail running club. Race proceeds go to local organizations including the Simsbury Land Trust and the Connecticut Forest & Parks Association. Chip timing will be used for the event in 2026. Shirts are available for separate purchase.

Registration opens on November 26, 2026 at 12:00 AM ET. When the event reaches capacity a waitlist activates; waitlisted runners are selected in registration order and have two days to accept an invitation when selected. The race is cupless; participants should plan to bring a personal cup or handheld bottle. Refunds are 50% if cancelled before March 1; no refunds after, and no bib transfers or deferrals.
