Traprock 50 - Penwood State Park

The event is a trail running day at Penwood State Park in Bloomfield, CT, organized by the CT Trailmixers, a volunteer non-profit trail running club. Distances offered are listed below.

  • 50K : three loops (approx 10.5 to 11 miles per loop)
  • 17K : one loop (approx 10.5 to 11 miles)

The course is a looped format on the Metacomet Trail and adjacent paths. About half the route is technical single track and the remainder is double-track or rolling forest roads. Sections of single track can be extremely rocky. The course will include a notable power line hill and no course changes are planned.

Entry guidance notes that runners should have recent road or trail marathon experience before attempting the event. The 50K has a nine hour cutoff. The race operates cupless; participants must provide their own cup or handheld bottle. Chip timing will be used for the 2026 event. A quality tech shirt is available for separate purchase.

When the event reaches capacity a waitlist opens; entrants are selected from the waitlist in registration order and have two days to accept placement. Refund and transfer policy: 50% refund if canceled before March 1, no refunds after, and no bib transfers or deferrals.
