The von Trapp Mountain Marathon takes place at Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vermont. It is a trail running event offered in two distances.
- Marathon, two laps of the 13.1 mile loop
- Half marathon, one lap of the 13.1 mile loop
The 13.1 mile loop includes about two thirds wider dirt roads and double-track trails and about one third serpentine single track. The course includes runnable trail sections, steep climbs and descents, and some steep scrambling segments. Full marathon participants complete the loop twice. A recently updated climb reaches the highest point on the property, Round Top Mountain.
The event is scheduled in October, when the course runs through fall foliage around the lodge.
