The event is a trail running competition held at Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vermont. It offers two distances:

  • Full marathon two laps of a 13.1 mile loop (approximately 3800 ft total elevation change)
  • Half marathon one lap of the 13.1 mile course

The course follows the Trapp Lodge trail system and includes winding single track, rugged dirt and gravel trails, steep climbs and descents, and a scrambling climb to the summit of Round Top Mountain. Runners gain and lose about 1900 ft of elevation per loop. The final four miles of the loop are downhill.

Aid stations are located at about miles 4 and 9, plus a halfway aid station and drop bag location for full marathon runners. Stations provide water, Untapped Maple hydration and gels, snacks such as cookies, chips, candy and bananas, and basic first aid supplies. The race is cup free; runners must carry a bottle, pack, or collapsible cup to access fluids. Restrooms are available at the Cabin Aid Station and at the start/finish area. Aid to runners on course is allowed only at aid stations except in emergencies.

Entry fees vary by date of registration with early, standard, and day of event tiers. Refunds are available minus a $25 service fee if requested by August 31; no refunds after that date.
