The event offers two trail race distances at Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vermont (700 Trapp Hill Rd). The course is a 13.1-mile loop with about two thirds double-track trails and dirt roads and one third serpentine, rugged single track. Full marathon entrants run the loop twice. The route includes steep climbs and descents, a scrambling climb to the summit of Round Top Mountain, and views of Mount Mansfield. Runners gain and lose about 1,900 ft of elevation per loop (approximately 3,800 ft total for the full marathon). The last four miles descend.

Aid stations are located near miles 4 and 9, with an additional aid station and drop-bag location at the halfway point for full marathon runners. Aid stations provide water, specialty hydration, gels, snacks, and basic first aid. The race is cup-free; runners must carry a bottle, pack, or collapsible cup. Restrooms are available at the Cabin Aid Station and at the start/finish area. Aid to runners on course is only permitted at aid stations.
