Festival of Lights 5K - Morrisville
The Festival of Lights 5K is a nighttime 5K event in Morrisville, Vermont on December 11, 2026. The course is an out-and-back along the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail, approximately 3.11 miles, starting in downtown Morrisville and finishing at Oxbow Riverfront Park. The trail is typically packed snow in December; runners are advised to plan for winter conditions and may use traction devices. Strollers, walkers, and leashed dogs are allowed.
The event emphasizes illumination and safety. Headlamps are required, glowsticks and other lights are encouraged, and the trail will be decorated with lights and luminaries. The finish includes a riverside celebration with s'mores, hot cocoa, music, and awards.
Awards recognize the top three male and top three female finishers overall and include age-group prizes for 19 and under, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 and over. Registration opens October 1, 2026. Early registration pricing before December 10 is listed at Adults $35 and Kids under 18 $10; onsite registration rates list Adults $40 and Kids under 18 $10. Fifteen percent of proceeds are designated for the Morrisville Alliance for Culture and Commerce. Race-day bib pickup and an early pickup session are organized at local venues, and parking is available in downtown lots and at the high school; there is no parking at Oxbow Park.
