Trapp Lodge Mountain Marathon
The Trapp Lodge Mountain Marathon takes place at the Trapp Family Lodge in the Green Mountains of Stowe, Vermont. Scheduled during the autumn foliage season, the event utilizes the lodge's extensive trail system. Participants can choose between two primary distances:
- Full Marathon
- Half Marathon
The course is designed as a loop featuring winding single track, rugged dirt sections, and gravel roads. Each loop involves approximately 1900 feet of elevation gain and loss. For those completing the full distance, the total elevation gain reaches 3800 feet. A notable section of the route includes a scrambling climb to the summit of Round Top Mountain, which provides views of Mount Mansfield. The final four miles of the course are primarily downhill.
The event is managed as a cup-free race. Runners are required to carry their own bottles, packs, or collapsible cups to access fluids. Aid stations are positioned at approximately mile 4 and mile 9, with an additional station at the halfway point for marathon runners. These stations provide water, maple-based hydration products, gels, and various snacks. Restroom facilities are available at the start/finish area and the Cabin Aid Station. All participants receive an event shirt and post-race food. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
