The event offers a marathon and a half marathon on the Trapp Family Lodge trail system in Stowe, Vermont. The course is based on a 13.1 mile loop that uses lodge trails and local terrain and reaches the highest point on the property, Round Top Mountain.
The loop is composed of approximately two thirds double track and dirt roads and one third serpentine, rugged single track. The route includes steep climbs and descents, significant elevation gain and loss, and some steep scrambling segments. Marathon participants complete the loop twice.
The setting is autumn in northern Vermont; the event occurs in October and passes through fall foliage on lodge trails. The event is organized by Ironwood Adventure Works.
