Overview

Tranquility Trail Run is a trail event at Oak Mountain State Park in Pelham, AL, with race headquarters at the Redbud Pavilion. The event offers these distances:

  • 3 mile
  • 6 mile

The 3 mile course is one loop around Tranquility Lake; the 6 mile distance is two laps of the same loop. Race shirts are included with registrations made through April 1st. Registration for the Southeastern Trail Series opens Dec 15, 2025, and registering for the full series can reduce the combined entry cost by 20%.

Course and logistics

The course begins in front of the Redbud Pavilion and includes a short 0.4 mile loop around Tranquility Road circling the BMX track before entering about 2 miles of single-track trail. Runners exit the woods near the meeting center and cross Cabin Road, then turn right to climb a hill by the cabins and return to the pavilion. The Redbud Pavilion serves as the 3 mile finish and as an aid station location for 6 mile runners; 6 milers continue into the woods for a second lap after the aid station. The loop has about 450 feet of elevation gain per lap. Park entry requires a $5 per person fee; the park does not accept credit cards. Packet pickup is available at a nearby outdoor store and at Redbud Pavilion on race morning. Trail races proceed in most weather; the park may require postponement or cancellation, and entries may be moved to a later date if needed.
