Event details

The Tranquility Trail Run is held at the Redbud Pavilion in Oak Mountain State Park, Pelham, AL. The event offers the following distances:

  • 3 Mile
  • 6 Mile

The 3 Mile course is one lap; the 6 Mile is two laps. The 3 mile loop has about 450 feet of elevation gain per lap. The race is part of the Southeastern Trail Series.

Course and logistics

Runners begin in front of the Redbud Pavilion and first complete a short 0.4 mile loop around Tranquility Road that circles the BMX track. After that, the course enters approximately 2 miles of single-track trail, emerges near the Meeting Center and cabins, crosses Cabin Road, then climbs a hill before returning toward the BMX track and finishing at Redbud Pavilion. The Redbud area serves as the finish for 3 milers and as an aid station location for 6 milers; 6 milers continue into the woods for a second lap after the aid station. There is a $5 per person park entry fee; the park does not accept credit cards. Race shirts are provided with registrations through April 1.

Awards and weather

Overall awards are given for 1st through 3rd place in both the 3 Mile and 6 Mile races. The event generally takes place regardless of weather; organizers may delay, postpone, or cancel in the case of severe conditions such as nearby lightning or extremely high winds.
