TrailFest - Holdenby House

TrailFest is a day of trail running held within the private Holdenby estate in Northamptonshire. The event offers four set distances that share the same traffic free route entirely inside the estate grounds. Dogs are not permitted because the event is run under a UK Athletics / Trail Running Association licence.

Distances available:

  • 10K
  • Half marathon
  • Marathon
  • 50 km

The route starts and finishes between the Basecourt Arches and then follows a mix of farm track and field edge. Each lap passes a small, rarely trodden wood where runners may need to duck, weave and step over branches and logs. The terrain is mainly rolling Northamptonshire hills with one noticeable climb. Road shoes are generally fine when ground is dry; trail shoes are advised if heavy rain has occurred in the 24 hours before the event.

Parking is free on grass at the estate and clear directions will be provided from the road. The estate lies about four miles north west of Northampton and is close to Junction 18 of the M1, postcode NN6 8DJ. Train access is by road from Northampton and Long Buckby stations; there is no local bus service. Entry fees are tiered by entry date and unaffiliated entrants pay a small extra fee; there is no booking fee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
