TrailFest - Holdenby House

TrailFest at Holdenby House on 13 September 2026 is a day of trail running set within the private Holdenby estate in Northamptonshire. The complete course is traffic free and uses paths inside the estate, combining farm track, field edge and a small, little trodden wood.

The event offers four distances:

  • 10K
  • Half marathon
  • Marathon
  • 50 km

The route starts and finishes between the Basecourt Arches and follows laps that use the same course sections. Midway through the lap there is a small wood with branches and logs to negotiate. The course gives open views across rolling Northamptonshire terrain and includes one noticeable hill along generally rolling ground. Shoe choice should reflect recent weather: road shoes are usually fine if conditions are dry, and trail shoes are advised if there have been heavy rains within 24 hours.

Parking is free on grass adjacent to the venue and there will be directions from the road. The site is about 15 minutes from Junction 18 of the M1, postcode NN6 8DJ, and is 7 miles from Northampton station and 5 miles from Long Buckby station; there is no local bus service. Dogs are not permitted under the event license. Crew are permitted but pacers are not allowed except in the final 100 metres. Spectators may attend but must not move along the trail. A large grass area near the event HQ can be used for a gazebo if organisers are notified. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
