Tiree Ultramarathon
The Tiree Ultramarathon is a single-stage 35 mile run that circumnavigates the island of Tiree. The route starts and finishes at An Talla, the community hall at Crossapol, and is run clockwise with the sea kept to the left. The course crosses 14 beaches and follows a mix of marked paths, tracks and roads around the island.
Participants follow a series of checkpoints with simple navigation between them. Route arrows and an event team provide on-course support. All finishers receive a course map, a technical event t-shirt, a medal and a goodie bag. Prize giving takes place on Sunday evening and is followed by an island ceilidh. Entries are accepted for individuals and for relay teams of two. The stated cut off time for the course is ten hours. Race headquarters will be at An Talla for the weekend.
Event administration notes include a non-refundable entry policy, two designated transfer windows in January and April, and no deferals or refunds outside those windows. If the event is cancelled due to factors outside the organisers control, entry fees will not be refunded. The event is sponsored by the makers of Tyree Gin. Weather on the course can vary from bright sunshine to hail, wind, rain or snow. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
