Event overview
The Tiree Ultramarathon is a 35-mile run around the Isle of Tiree on 06 Sep 2026. The course follows the island coastline and uses a series of checkpoints with simple navigation between them. There is a 10 hour cut-off time. Entry includes a goodie bag, course map, medal and a technical t-shirt. Entries for the full ultramarathon are open; the 2-person relay is on a closed list.
Course and logistics
The route follows the full circumference of the island and includes firm sandy beaches, gravel tracks, grassy dunes, sheep tracks, some boggy sections and rocky outcrops. There are a few hills. Route arrows and event staff will mark and guide the course. A printed map and profile are provided in the event bag. Travel options to Tiree include ferry from Oban or plane from Glasgow. The event is run as a weekend trip with recommended arrival on Saturday and departure on Monday. Local transport options mentioned include bike hire, private car and car sharing. Accommodation options on the island include hostel, bunkhouse, B&B, self-catering cottages and group accommodation.
Relay format and entry details
The 2-person relay covers the same 35-mile course with each runner completing roughly 18 miles. The changeover point is at Balevullin, where there is a checkpoint, bag drop and first aid station. Both team members receive a medal, t-shirt and goodie bag. One team member completes the single combined entry and acts as the point of contact for the team. Entry fees listed: full ultramarathon £75 until 05 Sep 2026; 2-person relay £100 until 05 Sep 2026. A service fee of 4% (minimum 50p) applies to sign-ups.
