Event overview

The Tiree Ultramarathon is a 35-mile circuit of the Isle of Tiree held on 6 September 2026. Entries are available for the solo full distance and a two-person relay. Entry includes a course map, a tech t-shirt, a medal and a goodie bag. The event has a 10 hour cut off time. Prize giving and an island ceilidh are scheduled for Sunday evening.

Course and format

The route starts and finishes at Scarinish Beach Hotel by the harbour and runs clockwise around the island, keeping the sea on the left. The terrain includes firm sandy beaches, gravel tracks, grassy dunes, sheep tracks, some boggy sections and rocky outcrops, with a few hills. Navigation is by a series of checkpoints with route arrows and event team support. Relay teams change over at Balevullin, where there is a checkpoint, bag drop and first aid station.

  • 35 miles - full solo ultramarathon
  • 35 miles - pairs relay (each runner covers about 18 miles)

Travel and entry notes

Travel options to Tiree include ferry from Oban or flights from Glasgow. All entries are non-refundable; the organisers provide limited transfer windows and recommend event or travel insurance.
