Tiree Ultramarathon
Tiree Ultramarathon takes place on 06 Sep 2026 on the Isle of Tiree, an island about 11 miles long and 6 miles wide. The complete circuit follows the coastline and covers the island circumference, a total of 35 miles.
- 35 miles full island circuit
- 35 miles pairs relay, each runner about 18 miles
The route uses a series of checkpoints with simple navigation between them. Route arrows and the event team guide progress. Terrain includes firm sandy beaches, gravel tracks, grassy dunes, sheep tracks, a few boggy sections and rocky outcrops. There are some hills but none described as severe. Maps and profiles are provided online and a printed course map will be included in the event bag.
Entry includes a goodie bag, course map, medal and a technical t-shirt. The event enforces a cut off time of 10 hours. The pairs relay has a designated changeover at Balevullin where a checkpoint, bag drop and first aid station are located. One person registers the team and pays the combined fee; both members receive finish items.
Travel options noted are ferry from Oban or plane from Glasgow. Bike hire is recommended for local travel. Accommodation options on the island include group accommodation, hostels, bunkhouses, B&Bs and self catering cottages. All entry fees are non refundable and event insurance is encouraged.
