Thumbs Up Summer Slam

This event takes place on the Thumb Open Space trail in Estes Park, Colorado, at the location listed as 101 Peak View Dr. The event runs from sunrise to sunset on the Thumb Open Space out and back trail and is limited to 30 participants.

The course uses a 1 km out and back loop with approximately 540 ft of ascent per loop. At the turnaround point each runner must collect one poker chip, return it to the start, and deposit it in their assigned jar. Poker chips are counted at sunset to determine placing. Unique pins are awarded at three milestone ascent counts and a special award will be given to the winner.

  • 14 ascents - Estes Park 7,522'
  • 18 ascents - Deer Mountain 10,103'
  • 26 ascents - Longs Peak 14,259'
