Lory Summer Trail Series - Eltuck Valley events

A midweek trail race series held in August 2026 at Lory State Park, starting from the Eltuck Picnic Area in Fort Collins, Colorado. The series comprises four races on different dates in August and uses chip timing with series points awarded for each race. Top series finishers receive awards at the end of the series.

Specific race formats and elevation gains are listed for each date: a Valley 5k with about 250 feet of gain, a hilly 5k with about 700 feet, a hilly 10k with about 1,700 feet, and a Valley 12k with about 500 feet. Registration opens on 2025-12-15. Pricing changes on July 1 with earlier rates available through June 30; special pricing of $10 per race applies to ages 17 and under and is applied automatically based on date of birth.

Logistics and policies noted by the organizer include a participant cap on some races, chip-equipped bibs, no on-course aid, two permanent toilets at start/finish plus additional park restrooms on course, available vintage shirts for registrants, post-race pizza and beverages provided by partners, a 75% race transfer credit valid for 12 months usable up to 72 hours before a race, and generally non-refundable entries with limited exceptions. A USATF sanctioned trail event at Lory State Park on June 27, 2026 offering 5K, 5 mile and 10 mile routes with scenic foothill views, aid stations with biodegradable cups, dog water bowls, bib pickup the day before and post race food.

A backyard ultra on the paved Lake Estes trail where runners complete 4.252 mile loops each hour until one runner finishes a loop alone. The event records yards for DNFs and offers on-site aid and athlete village space.

Repeating 2 km out and back laps on the Thumb Open Space trail in Estes Park. Participants collect a poker chip at each turnaround and the most chips wins during a sunup to sundown timeframe; 35 spots and a $100 entry fee.

A point to point relay across Colorado, the Wild West Relay covers 200 miles and 36 legs from Fort Collins to Steamboat Springs over two mountain passes. Teams of various sizes can compete and each team carries a GPS tracker with app suppor..
