Midweek Trail Series in Fort Collins
The Lory Summer Trail Series is a collection of shorter trail races held throughout August at Lory State Park in Fort Collins, Colorado. These midweek events are organized to accommodate both individuals looking to try trail racing for the first time and experienced runners aiming to focus on speed over shorter distances.
Participants can choose from various race distances scheduled on consecutive Tuesdays:
- 5 km (Eltuck Valley) with 250 feet of elevation gain.
- 5 km (Into the Hills) with 700 feet of elevation gain.
- 10 km (Into the Hills) with 1,700 feet of elevation gain.
- 12 km (Eltuck Valley) with 500 feet of elevation gain.
These are low-key, "no frills" races without on-course aid stations. The courses utilize the natural trail network and require runners to stay on marked paths. Results are recorded using chip timing, and participants earn series points at each race. Top finishers across the series receive unique awards.
Each registrant has the opportunity to select a vintage Gnar race shirt. Following the completion of the runs, pizza and beverages are provided for attendees at the Eltuck Picnic Area. Parking is available on-site, though vehicles without a Colorado State Parks Pass are required to purchase a daily pass. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
