Thetford 24 Hour - Brandon
The event is a timed non stop run on the Backyard route at High Lodge Thetford Forest. Races run for 6 hours, 12 hours or 24 hours. Participants may enter as a solo runner, a pair, or a team of up to four runners. Runners complete as many full laps as they wish within their chosen time limit; only complete laps count.
The route uses a transition and handover zone where timing chips are exchanged between teammates. Only one runner is permitted on the course at any time and chips must be handed over only in the designated camp or transition area. Supporters are not allowed on the course and all runners must wear their race numbers visibly on the front.
Onsite facilities include a basic food tent with hot and cold drinks and snacks, portable toilets, and additional toilets a short walk away at High Lodge. Vendors are available nearby during their opening hours. There is free camping onsite on Saturday night; runners may bring a small tent or pairs and teams may bring a gazebo. There is no power on site so participants should bring powerbanks. Stoves and fires are not allowed and participants must take home their own rubbish.
Entries are limited to 150 solo, pairs or teams. Minimum age is 18 and the event is not suitable for wheelchairs or buggies. Guided runners are welcome free but are not eligible for awards unless they enter as competitors. Entry prices vary by duration and category: 6 hour solo £40 pair £35 team £30; 12 hour solo £50 pair £45 team £40; 24 hour solo £70 pair £65 team £60. Timing is provided by Timing Monkey. Trophies are awarded for winners in each category and every race and all participants receive a bespoke wooden medal. Entries close two weeks before the race. Insurance of an entry is optional, adds 15% to the cost and insures 100% of the entry fee. Transfers are allowed up to four weeks before the event with a £20 administration fee.
