'Twas The Run Before Christmas
Organised by Zig Zag Running at High Lodge, Thetford Forest (IP27 0AF), this event offers multiple lap-based trail distances that all start together. The venue is based adjacent to Oak Lodge and the main area will be in exclusive use for the event.
Distances include:
- 5k
- 10k
- 15k
- Half Marathon
- Heavy Half Marathon
- Full Marathon
- Ultra Marathon
The core route is a roughly 5.3 km forest loop, almost entirely off-road (about 99% trail), with approximately 12 m of climb and elevations around 46 m to 58 m. The single lap stacks for longer distances (for example two laps for 10k). A heavy half is five laps by standard configuration with options to extend on the day; the standard ultra is nine laps with the potential to increase according to available time.
There is a six-hour event cut off; a four-hour cut off may apply depending on the start. An aid station with water is located at the lap point. Parking will be available at a discounted rate of £5 for participants with a QR code. Oak Lodge is used for registration and for provision of tea, coffee and cake on completion. A bespoke event medal is awarded at the finish, with a lucky dip medal option where offered. The event is cupless, so participants should bring cups or bottles for refilling. Twenty percent of the entry fee supports forest upkeep. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
