The course uses mixed trail, gravel road, and asphalt, and passes wooded areas, scenic views, 18th century homes, and historical battle sites. Runners encounter rocks and roots on some trail sections; parts of the route run on relatively flat asphalt with a grass trail alongside.

Wildlife on the route may include deer and possibly snakes. The trail is open to the public, and the organizer enforces an anti-litter policy; participants who litter may be banned.

Proceeds support services for people experiencing homelessness; donated items such as socks, underwear, toothpaste, and toothbrushes are accepted.
