The Underground Circus 100
The Underground Circus 100 is a multi-distance running event held on the Kennesaw Mountain Trail near Kennesaw, GA. The route uses mixed trail surfaces with some rocks and roots, gravel road sections, and asphalt finishes. A parallel grass path runs alongside parts of the asphalt so runners may choose either surface where available. The trail passes historic views and wooded areas, and it is open to the public during the event.
Distances available:
- 100 Miles
- 50 Miles
- 24 Hour
- 12 Hours
- 6 Hours
Timing mats and volunteers record laps and sign runners in each loop. Two aid stations are staffed and supply cups, sports drink, and various snacks; overnight and restricted diet items are suggested to be brought by runners. The start area is about 20 minutes from the nearest airport and several hotels are close by. Headlamps or reflective gear are required at night. Wildlife such as deer and occasional snakes may be present on trail sections.
The event allows runners to change to a different distance during the event, including moving between distance and timed entries; laps not recorded by the timing mat are not counted. Awards include a customized brass buckle for 100 mile finishers, finisher awards for 50 mile and shorter distances, and certificates for all participants. Event proceeds support services for people experiencing homelessness. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
