The Track Australia
Alice Springs, Australia • 12-21 May 2027
Event overview
THE TRACK Australia is a staged foot race in the Northern Territory, scheduled for 12–21 May 2027. The race covers 520 km over 9 stages across 10 days. The route runs between Alice Springs and Uluru / Kata Tjuta National Park. Daytime temperatures are expected between 20 and 30 °C and overnight temperatures between 5 and 10 °C. A time limit applies per stage, generally between 10 and 35 hours; competitors who do not meet a stage time limit may remain in the event and are classified by the kilometers they completed.
Course, logistics and rules
The first half of the route passes through West MacDonnell National Park, then continues toward Finke Gorge National Park and down to Uluru, which is on Anangu Aboriginal land. Terrain includes pebbly and sandy tracks and single track. Competition conditions require food self-sufficiency: each participant must carry their own food for 10 days (minimum 2 000 kcal per day, 20 000 kcal total) divided into two food bags for Days 1–5 and Days 6–10 with similar weight (5% tolerance). Water is provided at checkpoints and bivouacs (about 8 to 12 liters per day), but competitors must use their own bidons. Participants must present a provided map and follow the marked course; missing the map incurs a penalty. Accommodation is provided in tents during the race (two people per tent); other accommodations may be used before or after stages. A list of compulsory equipment and entry requirements is checked before the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
