The Tennessee Mile
The Tennessee Mile is a looped trail event held on private land near Franklin, TN. The course is a 1.1 mile loop with about 340 feet of elevation gain. Runners encounter two substantial climbs, runnable sections between climbs, and a downhill through a field to the start and finish area. The trail follows an old logging road and is a wide double track.
Timed divisions are offered in several formats:
- 40 Hour
- 24 Hour
- 12 Hour
- 8 Hour Night
- 6 Hour
- 3 Hour
- Youth 5K (children 16 and under)
Runners are responsible for tracking their own laps. There is no separate time limit on individual loops; participants log as many or as few loops as they wish within a division time limit. Crews and aid are allowed anywhere on the course. Runners must provide their own aid setup; water and electrolytes are available but all personal nutrition must be supplied by the runner or crew. Large communal tent setups are not provided; crews may bring pop-up canopy style tents to a designated crew area. Camping is allowed in a field but camping tents requiring stakes are not permitted in the start and finish area.
Pacing and company rules vary by division. Some divisions allow pacing and company at times while others only permit brief company without pacing. There are no refunds or deferrals. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
