The Tennessee Mile
The Tennessee Mile is a looped trail event held on private land near Franklin, TN at 9600 Big East Fork Rd, about 20 minutes from downtown Franklin. The course is a 1.1 mile loop with approximately 340 feet of elevation gain. The route uses an old logging road double track and includes two steep climbs, runnable sections between them, and a downhill through a field to the start and finish area.
The event offers multiple timed divisions:
- 40 Hour
- 24 Hour
- 12 Hour
- 8 Hour Night
- 6 Hour
- 3 Hour
- Youth 5K (16 and under)
Runners are responsible for tracking their own loops; there is no time limit per lap and competitors log as many loops as they can within each division's total time. Runners may accept crew and aid anywhere on the course but must provide their own aid setup. Organizers will supply water and electrolytes; individual nutrition must be provided by each runner. Large tents at the finish area are not guaranteed; crews may use pop-up canopy style tents in the designated crew area. Camping is allowed in the large field; stake tents are not permitted in the start and finish area.
Pacing rules vary by division. The 40 hour division allows pacing and company at any time. The 24 hour division allows company at any time with pacing permitted after 10 pm. The 12 hour and 6 hour divisions do not allow pacing though companions may join for brief laps. The 3 hour division does not allow pacers. The 8 hour division permits company and pacers according to event rules.
House rules specify no pets, no access to the house or porch, and hunting stands on the property are off limits. There are no refunds or deferrals; any proceeds may be donated to help maintain the property. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
