The Tennessee Mile

The Tennessee Mile is a looped trail event on private land near Franklin, Tennessee, held on a course known locally as The Murder Mile. The primary loop measures 1.1 mile and features about 340 feet of elevation gain, with two steep climbs, runnable sections between them, and a downhill through a field to the start/finish area. The surface is an old logging road with a wide double-track trail.

Runners are responsible for tracking and logging their own loops; there is no per-loop time limit and participants may complete as many or as few loops as they wish within their division time. Divisions include:

  • 12 Hour
  • 8 Hour Night
  • 6 Hour
  • 3 Hour
  • Youth 5K : children 16 and under; adults may accompany but cannot register

Aid, crew, and camping policies require individual responsibility. Runners must provide their own aid and setup; organizers will supply water and electrolytes but not individual nutrition. Crews may set up pop-up canopy-style tents within the designated crew area; large communal tents will not be provided. Camping is allowed in the main field, but camping tents requiring strings and stakes are not permitted in the start/finish area.

Pacing and company rules vary by division; some divisions allow pacing and company at specified times while others prohibit pacers. Pets are not permitted on site, and certain property areas such as the house, porch, and hunting stands are off limits. A community 5K at Community High School in Unionville, TN on August 8, 2026, with a course through a neighborhood and the school's wooded cross country trail supporting school teams.

Trail races at Long Hunter State Park outside Nashville with Half Marathon, Marathon and 50K routes that circle Couchville Lake and use the Bryant Grove trail and cliff loop. The course mixes dirt singletrack and paved greenway.

A 7K run and a 2-mile walk on the historic grounds of Andrew Jackson's Hermitage, featuring mixed surfaces and views of Tulip Grove and the Hermitage Mansion. Proceeds support the Andrew Jackson Foundation.

A 5K trail run in Fairview, Tennessee on October 24, 2026 supporting Love One International, which provides life saving medical treatment to children in Uganda. Registration opens April 24 and the entry fee is $40.
