Long Hunter Trail Runs

Long Hunter Trail Runs take place inside Long Hunter State Park, a few miles outside the Nashville city limits. All race distances circumnavigate Couchville Lake, include an out-and-back on the Bryant Grove trail, and run the cliff trail loop.

Distances

  • Half Marathon : 450 ft of climbing
  • Marathon : 850 ft of climbing
  • 50K : 1,100 ft of climbing

The course surface is a mix of singletrack trail and paved greenway/asphalt. The two-mile loop around Couchville Lake is a paved greenway; other non-dirt sections are connecting roads. The trails are described as relatively flat and mildly technical. Road shoes may be adequate if there has been no recent rain. GPX files and course maps are provided by the event.

Finisher awards are handmade clay arrowheads, each one unique.

Crew access and drop bags are restricted. Crews and friends may provide assistance only at the Couchville and Bryant Grove aid stations. Access to Jones Mill and Inland parking areas is permitted for spectators, but assisting runners outside the designated aid stations can result in disqualification. 50K runners are allowed one drop bag at the Bryant Grove aid station.

Volunteer roles include trail clearing, packet pickup, staffing aid stations, and post-race sweeping. Volunteers receive a complimentary race entry for themselves or a designee, meals, and race apparel if requested. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
