The Tatum Classic
The Tatum Classic is an inaugural MissionCleanWater trail race held at Tatum Park in Middletown Township, New Jersey. The course uses a repeatable loop that passes through rolling hills, open fields, and park trails in Monmouth County. The start and finish area is located at the picnic area by the Holland Activity Center.
Distance options are offered as repeat laps of a 4.75 mile loop:
- 1 lap (4.75 miles)
- 30 km
- 50 km
The route runs on trails, grass and open field sections, and park paths. Race signage and course markings will guide runners; participants should follow race-day markings rather than permanent park signs. There is one main aid station at the start/finish area with drinks, snacks, hydration, basic first aid supplies, prepared foods, and ice. There will be no aid stations out on the course.
Runners are timed with an RFID timing system that records each lap as runners pass the start/finish area. The 50 km field is subject to an 8-hour cutoff.
Proceeds from the event support MissionCleanWater, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on long-term sustainability of water systems. Event funds may support clean water programs in Uganda and an identified solar water distribution expansion project. An Athlete Program offers complimentary entries, custom shirts, and social promotion for athletes who create fundraisers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
