The South Hams Ultra, organised by Wild Running, offers three distances around the South Hams area of Devon on 10 and 11 October 2026. Distances, entry prices and age rule from the source:

  • 100 miles - £140, open to entrants aged 18 and over.
  • 44 miles - £70, open to entrants aged 18 and over.
  • Marathon - £45, open to entrants aged 18 and over.

Cut offs and total ascent are provided for each distance: 100 miles cut off 35 hours, ascent 4890 m; 44 miles cut off 14 hours, ascent 1947 m; Marathon cut off 8 hours, ascent 1183 m.

Route and checkpoints

The route circumnavigates South Hams in an anti clockwise direction and follows the South Hams Way for much of the course. It uses public rights of way, bridleways, coastal paths, parts of Dartmoor National Park and crosses five estuaries. The long route starts and finishes at Mothecombe car park on the Flete Estate. The 44 mile race starts at Old Town Mill in Totnes; the marathon starts at Old School Community Centre in South Brent; all finish at Mothecombe.

For the long route there are eight checkpoints with kilometre markers: CP1 Averton Gifford car park (15 km), CP2 East Portlemouth Mill Bay NT car park (38 km), CP3 Start Point car park (52 km), CP4 Dartmouth The Green (72 km), CP5 Totnes Old Town Mill (90 km), CP6 Buckfastleigh Moor Imagination Centre (103 km), CP7 Ivybridge Playing Fields (126 km), CP8 The Ship Inn, Noss Mayo (146 km).

Logistics and kit

Included services: GPS trackers provided by Geotracks, a marshalled course, professional first aid, insurance, parking, bespoke finisher medals, prizes for category winners, bag drop, a minimum of 3 to 8 feed stations depending on distance, and a paid ferry crossing for relevant sections.
