The Ridgeway Relay

The Ridgeway Relay is a team relay organised by Marlborough Running Club along The Ridgeway, one of England's National Trails. The Ridgeway covers 86.5 miles from Ivinghoe Beacon in Buckinghamshire to Overton Hill near Marlborough. The relay is run over ten legs, with individual leg lengths varying from 5.4 miles to 11.0 miles.

The route leaves The Ridgeway about two miles before Overton Hill and continues across Fyfield Down to the finish in Marlborough. The course is scenic, hilly and off road.

Teams compete for a team trophy based on the shortest total time to complete the course. Cut off times are applied on some legs to help the event finish in the evening; teams are not disqualified for missing these cut offs, but the next leg may be started before the previous runner arrives.

Entry rules specify that at least two legs must be run by female runners. For teams entered as mostly ladies, up to two legs may be run by male runners. Competitors may run more than one leg, but each leg must be completed in full and all changeovers must take place at the designated locations.

Teams are responsible for their own route planning and support on the day, and organisers advise that teams recce their leg in advance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
