Trail Running in Historic Putnam Memorial State Park

The Revolution is a running event held at Putnam Memorial State Park in Redding, Connecticut. The venue served as a winter encampment for the Continental Army in 1779 during the Revolutionary War. Participants run on a specific loop designed as a tribute to the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

The event features three distinct time-based options:

  • 12 Hour
  • 6 Hour
  • 3 Hour

The course consists of a 1.776 mile "revolutionary loop" located on the eastern side of the park. The route passes several historic features and landmarks within the grounds. The terrain is described as fairly gentle, composed primarily of carriage roads with small sections of singletrack trail and grass surfaces.

Registration for the event closes on July 10, the day before the race. A portion of the registration fees is donated to the Friends and Neighbors (FANS) of Putnam Park. Participants who complete their chosen duration receive finisher medals, and awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers in each time category. Post-race refreshments provided at the event include bagels, bananas, pizza, and various non-alcoholic hydration options. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
