The Possum at Woolly Hollow
The Possum at Woolly Hollow is a six-hour team running event held at Woolly Hollow State Park on November 7, 2026. Each team is made up of four members who complete repeated loops around Lake Bennett on a course that uses park roads and the Huckleberry trail.
The course begins at the pavilion in the center of the park and proceeds counter-clockwise down the entrance road to the spillway waterfall. Runners then take a left onto the Huckleberry trail, follow it around the lake to the Gold Creek Loop, and return to the pavilion.
All four team members must run the first loop together. After the first loop, any number of team members may run together, from one to four, but teammates who run a loop together must stay together for the entire loop. Each loop completed by a runner earns one entry into the post-race prize drawing. The team with the most entries selects their prize for finishing first overall; if teams tie, the first placed finishing member of a team on loop one is the tie-breaker. Once the first prize is selected, remaining entries are used to draw second and third place prizes. A team may win only once.
Registration opens July 1, 2026 and closes August 1, 2026. The registration fee is $30.00. Prizes include four free entries to a January Woolly Hollow Trail Half Marathon, four free entries to a January Village Creek 25k, and four $50 gift cards to UltraSignup.com. Proceeds support projects for schools in Honduras. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
