The Pemberton 24 - Salisbury, MD
The Pemberton 24 is a 24 hour running festival on the scenic trails of Pemberton Park in Salisbury, Maryland. Individuals and teams of four may run a series of 5K loops; a new 5K starts every hour on the hour during the 24 hour period. The event is organized by Algonquin Ultras Inc. with support from Wicomico County.
An aid station at the start and finish offers cold water, snacks, gels, sodas, and other supplies. Participants may set up a camp area to rest, sleep, and connect with fellow runners and volunteers between loops. The event is cupless; each participant must carry their own hydration.
Required items include a headlamp for nighttime running, personal hydration (bottle, vest, belt, or handheld), and a chair for rest between events. Traditional chip timing is not used; scoring is points based. Participants earn 1 point per completed 5K (up to 24), plus 1 bonus point for each 5K completed during the midnight through 4:00 AM window (up to 5). Placing points per 5K reward the top five finishers, and a 10 point bonus is awarded for completing all 24 5Ks. Ties are resolved with a 0.6 mile sprint.
Divisions include Individual and Team. Teams of four combine member scores for ranking. Awards go to the top three individuals in men and women categories and the top three teams. Event rules require visible bibs, no transfers or bandits, no littering, staying on course, no pacers on course, crews only at the start/finish area, and no animals.
