The Pemberton 24
The Pemberton 24 is a 24-hour endurance event at Pemberton Park in Salisbury, Maryland, offered for solo competitors and four-person teams. Participants run repeated 5K loops on scenic park trails and may complete as many 5Ks as they choose within the 24-hour window. An aid station at the start/finish will be stocked with cold water, snacks, gels, sodas, and other items, but the event is cupless and runners must bring their own hydration.
Traditional chip timing is not used. Runners earn points for each completed 5K provided they start with the group and finish within the hour. Additional placing points are awarded per 5K to the top finishers, and a bonus point is added for each 5K completed between midnight and 4:00 AM. A large completion bonus is awarded for finishing all 24 5Ks. In case of a tie, a 0.6-mile sprint decides the winner.
Required gear includes a headlamp for nighttime running, personal hydration (bottle, vest, belt, or handheld), and a chair to rest between events. Teams accumulate combined scores from their members; placing points from the top team runners count toward team totals. Top three individuals in each gender and top three teams receive awards. Standard race rules apply, including no bib transfers, no off-course running, no pacers on course, and no animals. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
