The Pemberton 24
The Pemberton 24 is a 24 hour endurance event at Pemberton Park in Salisbury, Maryland. Individuals and teams of four may run repeated 5K loops as often as they choose during the 24 hour window. A new 5K begins each hour over the full event period.
The course uses scenic park trails and is organized by Algonquin Ultras Inc. and Wicomico County. An aid station at the start and finish is stocked with cold water, snacks, gels, sodas, and additional supplies. Participants may set up a camp area near the start and finish to rest or sleep between runs and to interact with other participants and volunteers.
This is a cupless event. Runners must provide their own hydration, bring a chair for rest, and carry a headlamp for nighttime running. Traditional chip timing is not used. Runners earn points for each completed 5K when they start with the group and finish within the hour. Points include one point per completed 5K, bonus points for runs during midnight through 4:00 AM, placing points for the top five finishers in each 5K, and a special bonus for completing all 24 5K loops. Ties are resolved by a 0.6 mile sprint.
Rules include visible bibs for credit, no bib transfers or bandits, no off course running, no pacers on course, crews limited to the start and finish area, and no animals on course. Awards are given to the top three individuals by gender and the top three teams. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
