The Pemberton 24
The Pemberton 24 is a 24-hour event in Salisbury, Maryland, where participants and teams run repeated 5K loops on the trails of Pemberton Park. Over the 24-hour period a new 5K starts every hour on the hour, and runners may complete as many or as few 5Ks as they choose.
The event is hosted by Algonquin Ultras Inc. with support from Wicomico County. An aid station at the start/finish will offer cold water, snacks, gels, sodas, and additional supplies. The event is cupless; each runner must carry their own hydration and bring a chair to rest between efforts. A headlamp is required for night running.
Timing is based on points rather than cumulative time. Runners earn one point per completed 5K, with bonus points available for runs during the midnight-to-4:00 AM window and a large bonus for completing all 24 segments. Placing points are awarded to the top finishers in each 5K, and ties are resolved with a 0.6-mile sprint. Competitions are offered for individuals and for teams of four, with team scores based on combined member results.
Race rules include visible bibs at all times, no bib transfers, no pacers on course, crews allowed only at the start/finish area, no littering, and no animals. Participants may skip any number of 5Ks within their 24-hour period. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
