The Pemberton 24 - Festival of 5ks

The Pemberton 24 is a 24-hour event at Pemberton Park in Salisbury, Maryland, where individuals and four-person teams run repeated 5K loops. New 5Ks begin each hour, and participants may complete as many or as few of the hourly 5Ks as they choose within the 24-hour window. An aid station at the start and finish is stocked with cold water, snacks, gels, sodas, and other supplies.

Runners are encouraged to set up a camp area near the start and finish to rest, sleep if possible, and spend time between runs with other participants and volunteers. This is a cupless event; each runner must carry their own hydration and bring a chair. A headlamp is required for nighttime running.

Timing is not traditional chip timing. The event uses a points-based scoring system: runners earn 1 point per completed 5K, bonus points for overnight 5Ks, placing points for top finishers in each 5K, and a large bonus for completing all 24 laps. In the event of a tie, a short sprint finish determines the winner.

Awards are given to the top three individuals in men and women categories and to the top three teams. Event rules include no bib transfers, no off-course shortcuts, no pacers, and no animals on course. Crews may remain at the start and finish area only.
