The Oldman Backyard Ultra

The Oldman Backyard Ultra takes place May 2, 2026 at Pavan Park in Lethbridge, Alberta, beside the Oldman River among rolling coulees. The event follows backyard ultra standards and serves as a qualifying format for other backyard races.

Runners complete a 6.7 km loop and must finish each lap before the one hour cutoff to be ready to start the next loop on the hour. After each loop participants may rest, refuel, or recover while the race continues until only one runner remains.

Distances offered

• 1 lap on the 6.7 km loop
• 5 laps on the 6.7 km loop
• 10 laps on the 6.7 km loop
• 50 laps on the 6.7 km loop

Registration includes a multiple race day entry, a premium racer garment from Rabbit, a catered Pizza Party on May 1 at Pavan, and aid station support on course. The event is organized as a non profit with all proceeds directed to Youth One, a youth and family centre that provides free mentorship based out of school programs and support for teens aged 11 to 18. For cancellations before April 13 a 50% roll over credit to next year is applied. The event is one of six Silver Ticket events in Canada for 2026 and the last person standing receives automatic placement on Team Canada.
