The Oldman Backyard Ultra takes place on May 2, 2026 in Lethbridge, AB, beside the Oldman River among rolling coulees. The course is 6.7 km per loop. Participants may choose to run one of the following lap options on the course:

  • 1 lap

  • 10 laps
  • 50 laps

Registration closes April 13. The event is organized as a backyard ultra and will meet backyard ultra standards. It is one of six Canadian silver ticket events for 2026.

Format, services and charity

The race format requires runners to complete each loop before a one-hour cutoff and be ready to start the next loop; the event continues until one runner remains. Registration includes a premium racer garment from Rabbit, a catered dinner on May 1 at Pavan, and on-course aid station service. A 50% roll over credit to next year is available for entrants who drop out before April 13.

The event is non-profit and benefits Youth One, a youth and family centre serving teens aged 11–18 with mentorship-based programs and support services. For every $1,500 raised through the event, one youth’s annual costs are covered. The Oldman Backyard Ultra is a project of Bridges of Hope for payment processing. The last person standing at this silver ticket event receives automatic placement on Team Canada. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
