Lost Soul Ultra takes place the weekend following Labour Day in Lethbridge, Alberta. The trail course runs through river valley coulees on public and private land and includes multiple legs and loops, including an initial 9 km loop used only by 100 mile entrants.

The event fields about 350 ultra-marathoners. The 50 km course has three aid stations with segment distances ranging from 7 to 16 km. Elevation gain or loss on the 50 km lap is approximately 1,100 meters and includes 16 significant hills. Observed top race times are just over 4 hours for the 50 km, 10 hours for the 100 km and 19 hours for the 100 mile.
Lost Soul Ultra is maintained at a limited size by the organizers. The race is a recognized qualifier for Western States; the 100 km qualifier time is under 21 hours and the 100 mile qualifier time is under 33 hours. Racers and pacers must be at least 18 years old.
