The Next Loop 40/50 Mile Challenge - Tyler
The event is a continuous-loop trail race held at Tyler State Park, Texas. The course runs on a 3.1-mile loop of well-maintained dirt singletrack through forested terrain with tall pines, rolling ground, and occasional lake views. Runners encounter steady climbs and smooth runnable sections with enough elevation change to make pacing a consideration.
The format requires competitors to complete repeated loops until they reach the chosen distance or the time limit expires. A central staging and aid area at the loop provides regular access to hydration, nutrition, crew support, and race staff. Aid is fully stocked at every lap and a designated personal staging area sits near the loop start and finish to simplify logistics.
Distances offered include:
- 40 miles - 12 hour cutoff
- 50 miles - 12 hour cutoff
The race uses the same 3.1-mile loop as The Next Loop Endurance Series but is run continuously with a strict time cutoff rather than an hourly format. The continuous-loop design removes navigation concerns and concentrates the event on pacing, fueling, and endurance over multiple laps.
