The Muddy Duck is a trail running event held at the Rocks and Roots Trail at Alum Creek State Park, located just off Hollenback Road near the dog park at 3993 Hollenback Rd, Lewis Center, OH 43035. The event offers looped trail courses that change with the seasons.

Distances offered:

  • 6K
  • 10K

  • 50K

The course uses the park’s established north and south loops. The north loop is run first in a clockwise direction for the second 10K, and the south loop follows in a counterclockwise direction for the first 10K. Loops alternate as needed to reach each race distance. The 6K route is an abbreviated north loop with a shortcut near the one mile mark and a short section on an emergency access trail before rejoining the north loop.

Fee structure varies by date with tiered registration pricing: $45 through December 31, $50 in January, $55 in February, $60 in March, and $70 from April 1 through race day. The event has a no refund and no bib transfer policy. Races commonly sell out two to six weeks before the event.

Packet pickup is scheduled the day before at Fleet Feet Columbus in Lewis Center from 1:00pm to 7:00pm, with additional race day pickup beginning at 7:00am at the race site.

Course layout is subject to change. For the 50K there is an 8 hour course limit with specific lap start requirements and an overall course close time. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
