Last Buckeye Standing

Lewis Center, United States • 8 Aug 2026

Event Format

The Last Buckeye Standing is a Backyard Ultra-style running event. The competition consists of a 4.167-mile loop on the Alum Creek Hiking Trail at Alum Creek State Park in Lewis Center, Ohio. A new loop starts every hour on the hour. Runners must complete each loop within the hour to continue; if a runner fails to finish a loop or is not ready at the start of the next hour, they are eliminated. The event continues until only one runner remains.

Course & Conditions

The course is a loop through grass ski paths and single-track trails with moderate elevation changes (100-200 feet per loop). Trails are typically dry and runnable in August, but runners should be prepared for potential rain and mud in low-lying areas. For night loops (from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM), a headlamp is recommended. Solar landscape lights will be placed along the trail to highlight hazards, but they are not a primary light source.

Logistics

The event starts at 7:00 AM on Saturday, August 8, 2026. The start and finish area is at the Galena Boat Ramp Parking Area off Africa Road. Tents can be set up on Friday evening between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Ample parking is available, and participants are asked to use single-vehicle spots. Restrooms are available in the parking lot, with portable toilets on the course and at the start/finish area. Water and a limited supply of prepackaged food items will be available at the start/finish. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
