The Mighty Dog 10K & 5K Trail Runs : Granite Beach, Folsom Lake SRA

The event returns for its 12th year in 2027 at Granite Beach, Folsom Lake State Recreation Area, 8000 Douglas Blvd., Granite Bay, CA. Distances offered include:

  • 10K trail run
  • 5K trail run
  • Mighty Mile one-mile dog-friendly course

Races start from the Granite Beach parking area. The 5K course includes an aid station at the halfway point with water available to walkers and their dogs. The course information states there is an aid station at the halfway point for walkers and dogs.

All human finishers receive a Mighty Dog finisher medal and all participating dogs receive a Mighty Dog finisher bandana. Additional dogs may accompany a walker or runner for a fee of $10 per dog; each additional dog receives a bandana. Commemorative race shirts are available for $20.

Awards for the 5K and 10K are presented as first, second, and third place in three dog-size divisions: Small (up to 25 lbs), Medium (26 to 60 lbs), and Large (61 lbs and over). There are also awards for top runners without dogs in the 5K and 10K. No awards are given for the Mighty Mile.

The organizer applies a no refund policy. Refunds requested before race week are issued as race credit minus a $25 processing fee; no credits are issued during race week. Race transfers to another event are allowed within one year for a $25 transfer fee. Volunteers who complete a four-hour shift may earn a $50 event voucher.
