The Mighty Dog 10K and 5K Trail Runs
The Mighty Dog Trail Runs take place at Granite Beach within the Folsom Lake State Recreation Area in Granite Bay, California. The event, now in its 11th year, is designed for runners and walkers to participate alongside their dogs. Participants can choose between several distances:
- 10 km
- 5 km
- 1 mile
The 10 km and 5 km courses start from the Granite Beach parking area. The 5 km route includes a single aid station located at the halfway point, providing water for both human participants and their canine companions. The 1 mile distance, known as the Mighty Mile, is specifically offered for senior dogs and their owners.
All participants receive a finisher medal, while dogs receive a finisher bandana upon crossing the finish line. Registration is available for individual runners or for those running with a dog. Additional dogs may join a participant for a fee, and each extra dog will also receive a bandana. For safety, participants and their dogs are required to run without entangling others.
Awards are presented to the top three finishers in the 10 km and 5 km categories, categorized by dog size: Small (up to 25 lbs), Medium (26 to 60 lbs), and Large (61 lbs+). Awards are also provided for the top runners participating without dogs in these distances. No awards are issued for the 1 mile event. Commemorative race shirts are available for purchase separately.
