The Maverick Dark Castle Trail : Corfe Castle, 20 November 2026

The Maverick Dark Castle Trail is an evening trail running event set around Corfe Castle in Dorset on 20 November 2026. The event offers three waymarked routes that run across village streets, common land, ridge lines and woodland, with sections of single track and some road or hard-packed trail.

Distances:

• 15 km, Long route, +243 m elevation
• 11 km, Middle route, +225 m elevation
• 5 km, Short route, +120 m elevation

Route conditions in November are expected to be soft and muddy in many places. The long and middle routes follow the ridge toward Stone Hill Down and include tight, rooty single-track sections; the long route has one outpost at about 7 km supplying snacks, gels and electrolyte drink. There are no outposts on the middle and short routes and no toilets along the running routes; toilets are available in the start and finish area.

Practical details: free parking is provided but the car park is a 15–20 minute walk from the main venue. The course is fully marked and timed, with online results, event photography, a bag drop area and a metal finishers medal. Food and drink will be available at the venue and fire pits will be on site. Dogs are not permitted within the event venue.

Participants should carry a headtorch or chest torch, phone, trail shoes, raincoat, long sleeve top, foil blanket and a refillable cup or bottle. Headphones are not permitted.
