The Maverick Dark Castle Trail

Event overview

The Maverick Dark Castle Trail is a night trail running event held in November 2026 at Corfe Castle, Corfe, Wareham, Dorset (BH20 5EZ). The event is organised by Maverick Race and the course starts at Corfe Castle. Runners will follow trails across Corfe Common, through Church Knowle and up onto Knowle Hill, with sections on ridge paths and woodland. Some parts of the route pass Stone Hill Down and the area known as the Blue Pool. Trail surfaces include soft, muddy sections in November, plus some hard-packed or road sections. Dogs are not permitted within the event venue.

The Long route includes one outpost at about 6.5 km offering snacks, gels and electrolyte drink. The Middle and Short routes have no outpost. There are no pre-filled cups at the outpost; runners should bring a reusable cup or bottle. Toilets are available only in the start/finish area. The main car park is a 15-20 minute walk from the venue. The event provides a fully marked course, timing and online results, event photography, bag drop and a metal finisher medal.
