The Maverick Dark Castle Trail at Corfe Castle

The event is a night trail run that starts from Corfe Castle in Dorset and uses local lanes, commons, ridges and woodland. Routes pass through the village of Corfe, across Corfe Common towards Church Knowle, then up onto Knowle Hill with views across Purbeck and distant lights of Poole Harbour.

Route options:

  • Long: 15 km, +243 m elevation
  • Middle: 11 km, +225 m elevation
  • Short: 5 km, +120 m elevation

The Long and Middle routes continue along the ridge to Stone Hill Down and include tight singletrack toward the Blue Pool. Trails in November are generally soft and muddy with some hard-packed or road sections. Woodland and open heath on the routes are home to Sika deer.

Practical details include a single outpost on the Long route at about 7 km offering snacks, gels and electrolyte drink. The Middle and Short routes have no outpost. There will be toilets in the start and finish area only. The main car park is a 15 to 20 minute walk from the venue. Dogs are not permitted at the venue. Headphones are not allowed. Participants are asked to bring a reusable cup or bottle for refills. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
