The Maverick Dark Castle Trail 2026 - Corfe Castle

The Maverick Dark Castle Trail is a Friday evening trail run held at Corfe Castle on 20 November 2026. The event starts from the historic castle and follows paths across village streets, commons, ridges and woodland around Corfe and Church Knowle.

The route heads from the stone bridge through the village, across Corfe Common and up onto Knowle Hill with views toward Poole Harbour and Corfe Castle. The long and middle routes continue along the ridge to Stone Hill Down and then through tight single track toward the Blue Pool. Trails in November are generally soft and muddy with some hard-packed or short road sections. Woodland and open heath on the course are home to Sika deer.

Distances offered:

  • Long: 15 km, +243 m elevation
  • Middle: 11 km, +225 m elevation
  • Short: 5 km, +120 m elevation

Facilities and rules include a fully marked and timed course, an outpost on the long route at about 7 km with snacks and electrolyte drink, toilets only at the start and finish area, free parking and event food and drink. The car park is a 15 to 20 minute walk from the main venue. Outposts aim to be cup free so participants should bring a refill cup or bottle. Dogs are not permitted and headphones are not allowed. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a participating adult. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
