The Lost Valley Trail Race
The Lost Valley Trail Race
The Lost Valley Trail Race is a point-to-point trail race that takes runners from Burlington to Dundas, Ontario, along the Iroquoia Section of the iconic Bruce Trail.
Two distances are offered:
- 25 km
- 10 km
Both courses are point-to-point, with different start and finish locations. Participants must park at the Dundas Valley Conservation Area, which is the finish line for both races. A shuttle bus service (or personal transportation) is provided to transport runners from this conservation area to their respective start lines. The 25 km race starts at Cityview Park in Burlington, while the 10 km race starts at the Rock Chapel Conservation Area in Dundas.
The main course follows the permanently white-blazed Bruce Trail. Additional markings are placed on the first 250m, the last 250m, and a 2.5km section along streets in Dundas.
The 25 km course follows rolling single track along the Niagara Escarpment, through the Smokey Hollow area, along Grindstone Creek, and through rocky sections, a tunnel under Highway 6, past Borer's Falls, and down a steep descent near Sydenham Hill before the final road section. It has approximately 600m of elevation gain and 720m of elevation loss.
The 10 km course is 75% trail and 25% road. It begins with a relatively flat section offering views, followed by a technical descent of the escarpment and the same 2.5km road section in Dundas as the 25 km. It has approximately 185m of elevation gain and 265m of elevation loss.
The event is capped at 180 participants. Three aid stations are provided on the 25 km course and one on the 10 km course. The races finish at the Stacey Meadow Pavilion in the Dundas Valley Conservation Area. The registration fee includes parking, a pair of socks, a neck gator, a sticker, a race bib, and a finisher's medal. The event is cup-less (reusable cup or bottle required).
