Event

The Kitchener Kids with Cancer 2026 is a fundraising run supporting the Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario. It takes place at Kiwanis Park in Kitchener. This marks the event's 13th anniversary.

Course and Distances

Participants can choose from several events:

  • 5 km (timed run)
  • 10 km (timed run)
  • 5 km (untimed walk)
  • Kids 200m Run for children aged 7 and under

The course is run primarily on dirt trails within Kiwanis Park. The 10 km course consists of two loops of the 5 km route. The course is certified and sanctioned by Athletics Ontario. There are water stations on the course. The time limit to complete the course is calculated at 10 minutes per kilometer.

Inclusions and Fees

The first 700 registrants receive a free technical t-shirt. All finishers receive a medal. There is a discount for kids aged 12 and under: 10% off the 5 km and 20% off the 10 km entry fee. Registration for a stroller occupant (Future Runner) is free.

Post-race, a variety of food and refreshments are provided free of charge, along with musical entertainment. Food trucks will also be on-site.

Logistics

Registration and kit pickup occur at Conestoga Mall in Waterloo on the Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday before the race. On the Saturday morning of the event, only kit pickup is available at Kiwanis Park; there is no race day registration. Parking for participants and volunteers is available on the grounds of Kiwanis Park. Animals are not permitted in the run/walk.

Fundraising is a central goal of the event. Prizes are awarded to the top fundraisers, and a 50/50 draw takes place on race day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
