The Long Run Backyard Ultra - Petitcodiac Backyard Ultra
The event uses a backyard ultra format based on a 6.7 km loop. A bell signals the start of each hour; runners must return before the next hour to remain in the race. The event has no predetermined distance or finish line and ends when only one runner remains.
The course is located in both Riverview and Moncton, circling a section of the Petitcodiac River. The loop crosses two bridges, two parks, two boardwalks and passes a beer garden. Part of the route is on the Trans Canada Trail. The Riverview side offers many amenities while the Moncton side has more natural, open sections, allowing crews and spectators to follow progress from multiple viewpoints.
The event capacity is 50 participants and the event is full. Registration was for adults aged 18 and over. Prize categories listed include cash and trophies for the Last Person Standing, the Assist, and the opposite sex of the Last Person Standing, with a conditional prize adjustment if the Assist is of the opposite sex. All participants receive a finishing medal, event swag, a Long Run wrist band and a T-shirt; runners reaching 25, 50, 75 and 100 miles receive recognition wrist bands.
