The Long Run Backyard Ultra

The Long Run Backyard Ultra takes place in Riverview and Moncton, New Brunswick. The event features a 6.7 km loop situated in the heart of the Maritimes, circling a section of the Petitcodiac River. The course is notable for being part of the Trans Canada Trail (TCT), the longest trail in the world.

The race follows a standard backyard ultra format where a bell rings every hour on the hour. Participants must complete the 6.7 km loop and return before the next bell or they are eliminated. There is no predetermined finish line or total distance; the event continues until only one person remains standing.

The route traverses a variety of terrain including two bridges, two parks, and two boardwalks. The Riverview side of the course provides access to local amenities, while the Moncton side focuses on a natural setting. Because the course offers an almost unobstructed view, family and crew members can monitor progress from various points along the trail.

  • 6.7 km (hourly loop repeated until one runner remains)

All participants receive a finishing medal, event swag, and a wristband. Additional recognition wristbands are awarded to runners who reach milestones of 25, 50, 75, and 100 miles. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
