The Holmdel Classic
The Holmdel Classic is a trail loop event held at Holmdel Park in Holmdel, New Jersey. The event offers multiple distance options run on repeated laps of the same loop and supports MissionCleanWater, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on providing and maintaining clean water systems.
Distances
- 50 kmish - seven laps, approximately 4.5 miles per lap
- Halfish - three laps
- Single lap - about 4.5 miles
The course is predominantly trail and double track, with the organizer noting roughly 95% trail surface and about 584 feet of elevation gain per lap. The loop combines grass, dirt, rocks, roots, gravel, short pavement sections, and both sustained and short uphill and downhill segments. The route moves from an open grass field into a quarter-mile uphill, passes a feature known as The Bowl around mile 1.5, and includes single track sections with rolling terrain.
Timing and support are provided via an RFID timing system that records each lap. There is an aid station at the start/finish location offering drinks, snacks, hydration, and basic first aid; no food will be prepared and there are no aid stations along the course. Participants may carry their own supplies. Spectators are allowed; pacers are not permitted. A strict eight hour cutoff applies to the 50 kmish distance.
