The Holmdel Classic
Holmdel, United States • 13 Dec 2025
Event overview
MCW The Holmdel Classic is a trail race held on December 13, 2025, at Holmdel Park in Monmouth County, New Jersey. The event offers loop-based distances on a multi-lap course:
- Loop: 4.65 miles
- Halfish : 3 loops
- 50 kmish : 7 loops
The event uses RFID timing and records each lap. There is a strict 8-hour cutoff (4.07 mph). Spectators are allowed; pacers are not. Runners may carry their own supplies.
Course and logistics
The course is about 95% trail and double track with 584 ft of elevation gain per lap. Surfaces include grass, dirt, rocks, roots, gravel, short pavement sections, and varied inclines and declines. The route begins in an open grass field with a quarter-mile uphill, reaches a feature called "The Bowl" at about mile 1.5, includes a steep exit from The Bowl, and passes sustained up-and-down sections after the tennis courts back to the start/finish. Course navigation will use lawn signs, pink flagging tape, and signs on cones; participants are advised not to follow existing trail markings.
An aid station will be located at the start/finish offering drinks, snacks, hydration, and first aid; there will be no staffed aid stations on the course and no prepared food. The organizer will continue the event unless Monmouth County parks declare conditions unsafe due to lightning or heavy snow. No refunds are planned; deferrals to future 2026 races are offered on request.
Charity and fundraising
All proceeds support MissionCleanWater, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on sustainable clean water systems. The organization states commitments to monthly inspections, 24-hour emergency response for repairs, and a supply chain for replacement materials, and it aims to provide access to clean water for 500,000 people by 2030. Participants who raise $500 receive a full refund and guaranteed entry to future races; the organizer can create personal fundraising pages on request.
