The Eternal Damnation Backyard

Sylvan Grove, United States • 18 Apr 2026

Event overview

The Eternal Damnation Backyard is a Backyard Ultra held at Wilson State Park (Hell Creek area) near Dorrance and Sylvan Grove, Kansas. The start and finish are at the Switchgrass Mountain Bike Trail parking lot. Registration closes on April 12. The event is presented by Ultraverse Supplements. Minimum age to compete is 16. The race has a no-refund policy; deferral credit is available on a sliding scale up to 60 days before the event.

Course and format

Each loop is specified as 4 miles 880 feet (metric equivalent 6.7056 km) and must be completed within one hour to count. The course begins with about 3/4 mile on pavement, then continues entirely on single-track mountain bike trail alongside Wilson Lake. Each lap starts and ends in the Switchgrass Mountain Bike Trail parking lot. The event follows the Backyard Ultra format: each loop begins exactly one hour after the previous start and the winner is the last person to complete a loop. The race is open-ended.

Rules and logistics

Runners may not leave the course during a loop except for restrooms. No personal aid is allowed during a loop; common aid stations are permitted. Timing of loops is optional. Non-competitors are not allowed on the course. Competitors may bring up to two crew members and space is available for pop-up setups. Organizers will provide water and Proxima C Endurance Fuel; runners are otherwise self-sustained and should bring their own food. No electricity will be available for crews or runners.

Awards and results

All entrants receive a shirt and a custom finishers plaque with distance recorded on site. Runners who complete 24 hours (100 miles) receive a custom embroidered item mailed after the event. The last person standing and other categories receive special awards. Final mileage for each runner is recorded in UltraSignup rather than a DNF.
