Hell Creek 100
Dorrance, United States • 31 Oct 2026
Event Overview
The Hell Creek 100 is a trail running event held at Wilson State Park. The races take place on the Switchgrass Mountain Bike Trail, which is described as an easy-to-follow, rugged, single-track trail. The course offers views of Wilson State Park and Wilson Lake.
Distances
The event offers multiple distances:
- 10K (442 ft of elevation gain)
- 20-mile (2,024 ft)
- 100K (6,072 ft)
- 100-mile (10,120 ft)
- Pure Hell 140-mile (14,168 ft)
Course Details
The races use a looped course of approximately 20 miles, with no repetition. Participants run one loop (20 milers), three loops (100K), five loops (100-mile), or seven loops (140-mile). The 10K uses a shortened version of the loop. The trail is heavily marked with ribbons and wrong-way signs. The 100-mile course is noted for having the most elevation gain and loss of any 100-mile race in Kansas.
Aid and Facilities
Aid stations will feature the Proxima C electrolyte drink along with typical aid station items. There is no aid station on course for the 10K; runners in that distance must carry their own supplies. Restrooms are available at the start/finish, with porta-potties at the Hell Hill aid station. Hot showers are available year-round at the start/finish area and at Big Bluestem Campground, located about three-quarters of a mile away.
Participant Perks
All finishers receive a distance-specific medal and a beer. Participants receive a shirt and a drawstring bag; 100K finishers also receive a coffee mug, and 100-mile and 140-mile finishers receive a buckle. Sub-24-hour 100-mile finishers receive a special sub-24 buckle. An optional costume contest offers race credit prizes. Pets that run with participants can receive a special medal.
