The Colony Shoreline 5K & 8 Mile
The Colony Shoreline 5K and 8 Mile are volunteer-run races held in The Colony, Texas, with proceeds supporting cancer research at UT Southwestern. The event typically attracts hundreds of runners and offers chip timing for participants.
Both courses use the Shoreline Trail along Lake Lewisville for a large portion of the route: about 60 percent of the 5K and 80 percent of the 8 mile follow the trail. The trail surface is a smooth crushed granite with gently undulating terrain. Several water stops are placed along the courses and one porta-potty is provided at each turnaround.
Race logistics include packet pickup the day before at The Colony Recreation Center and additional pickup on race morning. Parking inside Stewart Creek Park is available as the preferred location, though vehicles parked inside the park will not be able to exit until 9:30 a.m. An alternate grass parking area near Pecan Crossing and North Colony is available for those who prefer earlier departure.
All registered participants receive a soft cotton tee shirt, a chip timed bib, a finishers medal, and a post race beer. Transfers and refunds are not allowed; all sales are final. Local businesses sponsor the event and sponsorship income is tax deductible. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
