The Cerne Giant

The Cerne Giant is a challenge event on 21 March 2027 offering a choice of 30 mile or 20 mile routes to be completed within an 11 hour limit. The event starts from Cerne Abbas Village Hall and follows downland and river valleys in Dorset.

The route passes through Alton Pancras, Lyscombe Chapel, the Dorsetshire Gap, Buckland Newton and other local landmarks. The 30 mile course additionally passes Bingham's Melcombe and Sydling St Nicholas. Route descriptions and GPX files are released about ten days before the event.

There are three checkpoints on the 30 mile route and two on the 20 mile route. Checkpoints offer drinks and light snacks; a light vegetarian meal is provided at the finish. Entrants should bring their own mug as no disposable cups are used. Participants with special dietary needs other than vegetarian should plan to carry suitable food and drink.

The event uses a rolling start and entrants must have their tally card scanned prior to starting. Parking is limited and located about 600 m from the start; parking details are included with the route description. No dogs are allowed. All finishers receive a certificate. Entries are limited to 180, not transferable, and cannot be made on the day.

Minimum age is 16. Entry opens 1 November 2026 and closes 7 March 2027. Entry fees are £15 for LDWA members and £25 for non members. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

A scenic evening cross-country event at North Perrott Cricket Club offering a two-lap 10K and an approximate 6K fun run, limited to 250 entries, cupless with water stations, chip timing and proceeds supporting local community projects.

Two long trail races across the Mendip Way offering dramatic hilltop views, coastal finish and on-course aid; 30 Miler or 50 Miler with multiple aid stations and medical cover.

A mainly trail 5k loop from Peveril Point to Anvil Point Lighthouse along the Jurassic Coast, part of Swanage Lifeboat Week and the Purbeck Trail Series.

An evening trail event near Dorchester with 5k and 10k routes through sunflower fields and bridleways. Routes include an aid station and finishers receive medals, while the event supports a local hospital charity.
